"Satan has a powerful tool to use against good people. It is distraction. He would have good people fill life with "good things" so there is no room for the essential ones. Have you unconsciously been caught in that trap?....
"Are there so many fascinating, exciting things to do or so many challenges pressing down upon you that it is hard to keep focused on that which is essential? When things of the world crowd in, all too often the wrong things take highest priority. Then it is easy to forget the fundamental purpose of life."
-Richard G. Scott "First Things First"
In an effort to prioritize my life, I have decided to rid myself of some things that tend to be expected socially but end to just be "another thing I have to do to keep up with everyone else and what they are doing"...like this blog for instance. I know a lot of people do their blogs for their "journaling" or just for entertainment and those are things I have told myself is the reason for this blog. Well, I have decided that more important things must take precedence. STARTING NOW! I have decided I need to create habits that help light my spiritual fire and relay those habits to my family via family scripture study, family prayer, personal scripture study and prayer in freetime, and freetime spent with the family creating memories. This means the easiest way for me to do this is to get rid of distractions.
Just know this isn't goodbye forever....it's more like "I'll see you later."
While we try to teach our children all about life, Our children teach us what life is all about.

Straight To You
I took myself on a date last weekend. I went to see the most amazing, all powerful, singing god - Josh Groban. To say I love this man is almost a mockery of how much I truly love the musical-ness of him. So I went bymyself to his concert and although my camera was dead I managed to slip in a few pics. Enjoy.
An amazing pianist named Elew opened for him. Seriously YouTube this guy or something. He is crazy talented. Plus, he doesn't use a bench, splits work just fine.

(sigh) What an awesome date.

An Explanation
Ya so I haven't blogged in a while.
The following are my excuses:
A) Not too much to say.
B) Busy.
C) No pics to post cuz the camera has been broken forever. But we just got a new one. Stay tuned.
D) We haven't had any internet access at home for quite a while. But thats fixed now.
That being said, I will have to come up with an extraordinary post to follow this one. Cross your fingers.

Why I Love Them....
Anyone who knows me well knows I have a very soft spot for my animals (and really any animal in general)....this is why...
They keep us clean.
And smooth.
They aren't afraid of our "dirty laundry"...
...at all.
They love to snuggle.
But mainly because of photos like this one.

Mission (Not So) Impossible
So spur of the moment yesterday I decided enough was enough! It was time. That dang paci had overstayed its welcome.
Last night was brutal. But then again not so bad. Maddix cried and cried and screamed and cried for only about 45 minutes before he finally was too tired to cry anymore. It was kind of a tender, bittersweet moment for me, I guess. When he finally gave up the crying, he just leaned against my shoulder then I whispered to him "Good job buddy! You did it!" Then he lifted his head a little and looked at me and whispered back "Ya" and fell asleep. Next thing I knew I had a tear or two running down my cheek...
I DID IT!
They say the first nights the worst. Lets hope thats true.
